Mormon editors yank newspaper after typo

PROVO, Utah, April 7, 2009 -- Typos are the bane of people who traffics in the written word. Ask the editor of the student newspaper at Brigham Young University, which is owned by the Mormon Church. A caption writer misspelled the word "apostles" in the line "Quorum of Twelve Apostles" under a photo of Mormon leaders. An editor spotted the typo and chose "apostates" from among spell-check options. It's not what any good Mormon could countenance. The entire press run, 8,500 copies, was removed from campus and reprinted with a correction and an apologyapology of the apostates, err, the apostles.

apostle
A disciple of religious leader Jesus Christ

apostate
Someone who renounces a belief
